Rose wine – Alentejo Wines Region - Portalegre
This Howard’s Folly Sonhador Rosé 2019 is a Rosé Wine from the Alentejo Region, the first Rosé from this cellar under the responsibility of winemaker David Baverstock.
Sonhador Rosé 2019 is produced with grape varieties harvested from vineyards planted in Portalegre to the northeast of Alentejo in the granite foothills of the Serra de São Mamede, where it is cooler, with many old vines, which give the wines more complexity and freshness.
The grapes of the Aragonês (65%) and Castelão (35%) varieties that result in this 2019 Sonhador Rosé Wine were the result of a Harvest with the selection of grapes and transporting them manually in 15kg plastic boxes, with a yield of 4- 5 tons per hectare.
This was followed by vinification with a sorted bunch before destemming and crushing, after 48h of cold sedimentation, and a slight aging of four months of aging in light lees (Bâtonnage), being bottled in April 2020.
Tasting note: About this Howard's Folly Sonhador Rosé 2019 in the glass shows a beautiful and attractive pale pink salmon color, then on the nose it is a refreshing and complex wine, with aromas of ripe wild fruits, raspberry jam and a touch of vanilla spices , already in the mouth, it shows ripe red fruits and intense fruits with good body and texture, vibrant acidity that adds to a long and deep finish. A temptation and a great Rosé Wine, even for those who do not normally appreciate this type of Wines.

Awards: This Producer won the Portuguese Red Wine Trophy in both 1999 and 2002 Desafios international wines, in addition to the oenologist of the year (Portugal) 1999, the first non-Portuguese. He is the chief winemaker for the world famous Herdade do Esporão.
