D.O.C. Colares - Wines from Lisbon
The wine region of Colares, integrated in the Wine Region of Lisbon, a little further away from Lisbon than its neighbor and competitor, the also very noble region of Carcavelos, is limited to the West by the Atlantic Ocean and to the South by the Serra de Sintra, the Colares Demarcated Region comprises the parishes of Colares, São João das Lampas and São Martinho, in the municipality of Sintra, being a Controlled Denomination of Origin since 1908, the westernmost Demarcated Region of Continental Europe and the smallest region producing still wines from Portugal.
This ADEGA VIÚVA GOMES White Wine 2018 is a Monovarietal or Mono-Vast Wine, 100% of the Malvasia grape variety, typical of Colares, indigenous to the demarcated region of Colares (DOC Colares), from vineyards in free standing, planted in the sandy soils of Colares in the municipality of Sintra.
Tasting Notes: This White Wine VIÚVA GOMES 2018 presents itself as a very mineral wine, with high acidity, with aromas of salt air and iodine.
Grapes/varieties: Malvasia (100%).
