The wine region of Colares, from the Lisbon Wine Region, is a Controlled Denomination of Origin since 1908, the most western point of Continental Europe.
.
This 1934 Adega Viúva Gomes Red Wine is a is a monovarietal of the Ramisco grape variety, indigenous to this region, from vines planted in the sandy soils of Colares.

The Red Wine Adega Viúva Gomes 1934 is vinified using a fermentation in a winery, followed by an aging in vats and exotic woods, with the use of a 100% Portuguese natural cork stopper.
.
Tasting Notes: The VIÚVA GOMES RED WINE 1934 gained over time an onion skin hue, although it maintains a pleasant freshness. On the nose, you can feel the aromas of cherry in the air. In the mouth, it presents a light structure with well-marked tannins and notes of iodine at the end.
.
Grapes/varietes: Ramisco (100%)
.
Harmonization: We recommend with game dishes and to allow some time to breath and to carefully decant it.

Tasting notes | These old wines gained an onion skin color, although it has maintained a pleasent freshness with aromatic notes of raisin cherry and damp earth |
Production | The Ramisco grape, authocthon in this region Colares |
Palate | In the mouth this wine has a light structure, where the tannins are marked along with some acidity due to sea winds, presenting a finish of sea salt notes |
Seems to be kinda 'late bottled' due to label and cork being rather intact. Dark garnet with rusty brown rim, some sediment present. Initial weird funk is quickly gone, remain tar and damp earth, basil and balsamic. On tongue cranberry and pan glaze, mint and dogwood berry, iron and plum sauce, dog rose infusion — everything persists and interleaves wave-wise. Savoury yet retained much of fruitiness on palate, goddamn juicy. Go get some, while still available.
