The Portucale Motif #27
Does good wine have to be expensive?
When they ask us if drinking a good wine has to be expensive, we answer no.
Many Portuguese wines of excellent quality have (and are recognized) for their excellent price-quality ratio. It is usually to say that in Portugal, it is difficult to find bad Wine.
Wine quality shouldn't be concluded by its price and we don't all have to like all the same Wines.
In fact, it is our belief that if Wine is consensual, it ceases to be the magical and enchanting drink it is.
Choosing a good wine is based on its aromas, flavors, balances (acidity, tannins) and also on what we want to harmonize the Wine with (meat, fish, cheese, seafood, charcuterie).
There are several examples of cheap wine that is very bad or even very good, and a lot of expensive wine that we like and others not so much. The secret of a good wine results from the care with which it is made and its genuineness.
Other details, such as the right glass, the preference of certain aromas and flavors and, not least, the storage temperature and the ideal serving temperature make all the difference.
The way we consume Wine is also associated with the sensations it gives us, as well as the moments and occasions where it is consumed and with whom we have the pleasure of sharing Wine.
