Cabernet Sauvignon
It is not a typical Portuguese grape variety, but it is probably one of the most famous red grape varieties in the world.
The Cabernet Sauvignon variety has its origins in Bordeaux (France) and from there it had its expansion into the wine world, reaching Portugal.
Some people describe the variety as so special, that if Humanity perhaps installs a vineyard on the Moon and needs to select a first variety to test, this should be the first choice, such is its enormous adaptability and resistance to practically all adversities!
Wines produced with Cabernet Sauvignon have a deep colour, good tannins, slight acidity and aromas of cassis, tomato leaf, spices and cedar wood.
The wine is well coloured and rich in tannins, improving with aging.
It is the most widespread wine grape in the world, found in all temperate and hot areas.
There are those who call this grape variety “the queen of red grapes”.
A grape difficult to chew, given the hardness and difficulty in bursting the fruit!
