In this article we want to draw attention to one of the Portuguese Wine Regions, perhaps with more and greater international projection.
A history of almost two millennia on the schist slopes of the Douro valley, the charming River (Douro River) that circulates and crosses this noble Region, a unique viticultural landscape, resulting in exceptional wines.
In due course we will approach in more and greater detail the special terroir that characterizes the Douro and Porto Region.
A very important characteristic of the Douro Demarcated Region is based on its soils of schist origin, associated with the climate, orography, grape varieties and cultural practices, giving a unique personality to the wines produced here.
In this region, one of the icons with the greatest and most reputation is undoubtedly Port Wine. This is a liqueur wine, produced under peculiar conditions derived from natural and human factors.
The manufacturing process, based on the very Portuguese tradition, includes stopping the fermentation of the must by adding wine spirit to the blending of wines and aging.
