A toast with Oporto Wine

The Autumn is approaching. At this time, children return to school, temperatures gradually drop and we begin to imagine late afternoons and evenings by the fireplace or simply enjoying a good Oporto Wine.

Oporto Wine is a fortified wine, produced in the Demarcated Region of the Douro, under peculiar conditions derived from natural and human factors. The main production sites are located between Régua and Pinhão, and some of the reference vineyards are further east.

It has a production process based on tradition, which includes stopping the fermentation of the must by adding wine spirit (benefit or fortification), blending the wines and aging.

Port Wines

The Douro Region was conceived during the 18th century during the reign of King José I, becoming the first demarcated and regulated region in the world, what we proudly call “our” Douro Wine Region in Portugal.

Mature, red, white and rosé wines are produced in this region, including Sparkling and Moscatel wines, but the biggest star is undoubtedly the Oporto Wine. The vineyards are terraced along the Douro River and its tributaries, providing a landscape recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.

Queen Elizabeth II was very fond of Portuguese Wines and especially of Oporto Wine. There were many ceremonies and receptions in which a Oporto Wine was present. In honour of the Queen, the Douro region will be the "European City of Wine 2023* as shared by the Portuguese Wine Club portal.

Other historical moments were also celebrated by the Queen with Oporto Wine, such as the last reception to the American head of state.

This month we are proud to offer you a magnificent experience with Port Wines, a selection of three Port Wines from an excellent producer in the region. The Queen Pack 2022. Cheers!
