The grape harvest has already begun in Portugal.

 

As you know, we're passionate about the world of wine and it's a time for celebration after a year of hard work in the fields, near the vineyards.

 

The grape harvest here in Portugal is usually a time of hard work, but also of celebration. A long-awaited moment, feeling the adrenaline in the “backstage” of the wineries and with our producers.

 

 

The experience of accompanying and/or taking part in the Harvest always leaves everlasting memories. João dos Santos Alves shares here that ever since he was a child, the smell of freshly picked wine grapes has been on his mind.

This year, with climate change and a year in which the drought is making a big difference to agriculture, we are already seeing a big impact, namely with the harvest starting very early in the Douro region.

 

Due to the drought and the high heat in Portugal between June, July and even August, producers have had to preserve the quality of the grapes and in this case bring forward the start of the harvest.

 

Even so, we're very optimistic and confident that another year's harvest will produce excellent results. It was like that in 2017, why not repeat the good results of that year in 2022 as well.
