From Quinta do Salvante to the world.
From Quinta do Salvante to the world.
Made in Portucale's mission is very much based on the originality and tradition of what is best made in Portugal. In this article we want to present a small producer from a terroir that we have already shared here, the Trás os Montes Wine Region.
Quinta do Salvante is part of our portfolio as an example of a producer from Portugal's northeasternmost region, where we find many values that identify closely with our project.
At Quinta do Salvante, the art and passion for growing vines has been passed down through the family that owns it for seven generations.
In 2007, this family from Trás-os-Montes decided to pass on all the love and knowledge they had inherited from their ancestors and thus created a wine brand that was later reformulated in 2019.
More recently, the vineyard area was increased and a new winery was built under the name Quinta do Salvante, but the centenary vineyards have always remained its most important heritage.
The old vineyards in Trás-os-Montes are known for the peculiar shape of the vines and the diversity of grape varieties present throughout the vineyard, with more than 10 varieties of white and red grapes to be found throughout the old vineyards.
The region where Quinta do Salvante is located, Santa Valha in Valpaços, is also known for the large number of rupestrian lagares (wine presses that have been dug into the rock) that date back to the beginning of the millennium and the production of wines by the Roman Empire.
Another factor that stands out in this local producer is that in the winery they try to maintain the most traditional form of winemaking in granite lagares, which with all the latest technology, such as temperature control, allow them to obtain quality wines with some innovation, without ever forgetting their origins.
We suggest you try the different types of wine from this small producer in Trás-os-Montes, from red wine to white wine, rosé and reserve red wine, all in a single six-bottle pack.
Give it a try!
