Harvest is a party!

 

 

The end of summer and the beginning of fall usher in the harvest season in Portugal: the grapes are ready to be picked from the vines, in a festive and convivial atmosphere, to produce the wine of the year. It's a Portuguese tradition that, although modernized in some respects, is still what it used to be.

 

 

It's time for farms all over the country to open their doors and share their enthusiasm and joy throughout the harvest and wine-making process. In all 14 regions, it's time to gather family and friends, all with scissors, baskets and boxes, and for a long morning there's music, walks, tastings, lots of fun and lots of work too.

 

 

Although the summer has had very fluctuating weather, this year a good harvest is expected for both whites and reds.
